Fellowship Service Recap - 10/29-10/30/16

This weekend was our second in our Together series, and we looked at why it's important for us to be "Together in Worship." Our adult discipleship pastor, David Hinkle, called us as a congregation to move from watching to participating in worship together.

It was a great weekend. The team did a great job leading, and we sang some of our favorites in our rehearsal of what we'll be doing together for eternity: exalting the name of our Savior, Jesus Christ, with the song of those who have been redeemed!

Here's what we sang together:

Pre-service - "Rock of Ages" [The Modern Post/The Northwest Collective]
"Rejoice" [Dustin Kensrue/The Modern Post]
"Jesus!" [Citizens & Saints]
"My Victory" [Crowder]
"Revelation Song" [Kari Jobe]
"O Praise The Name (Anástasis)" [Hillsong Worship]

Songs We Sing - 06/13 - 06/14/15 - Fellowship Bible Church

This week, we looked at 1 Corinthians 10:23-33 as we continued in our message series through 1 Corinthians, Grounded. Pastor David Hinkle preached about doing all to the glory of God.

Here are our songs from this weekend:

Pre-Service - "In Exile" [Dustin Kensrue, Thrice]
"There is a Fountain" [William Cowper, William Gardiner]
"Lead Me to the Cross" [Brooke Ligertwood]
"Revelation Song" [Jennie Lee Riddle]
"Lord of All" [Kristian Stanfill]

For our singing, we focused on laying down our own rights and our own lives for the sake of the glory of God and the advancement of His kingdom. We do this because He gave Himself up for our redemption. He is our example in sacrificially giving up His rights and laying down His life for us. Because of this, our lives ought to reflect that same kind of sacrificial love for others, giving up our own rights and priveleges for the sake of those around us.

It was a great weekend of worship together. We sang a few songs that we hadn't sung in a while, and it was special to sing them together again. I had nearly forgotten how much I enjoyed "There is a Fountain," so it was great to bring that one in particular back this weekend.

I hope you had a great weekend worshiping the Savior together with His Church!

Songs We Sing, 07/19 - 07/20/14 - Fellowship Bible Church

This week, we finished our series, "In Light Of Eternity." It has been a great and challenging series, with a ton of great teaching. I think I will be processing much of what I heard and learned this week for quite a while. You can watch the service and listen to the message here.

Here are the songs we sang together this weekend:

Pre-Service - "Soon" (D) [Brooke Ligertwood]
"Rejoice" (Bb) [Dustin Kensrue, Stuart Townend]
"This Is Amazing Grace" (Bb) [Phil Wickham, Josh Farro, Jeremy Riddle]

Message - "Living in Light of Eternity"
"Revelation Song" (D) [Jennie Lee Riddle]
"Hosanna" (D) [Brooke Ligertwood]
"Come Lord Jesus" (G) [Dustin Kensrue]

It was a solid weekend all around. Becky Tindell co-led for the weekend, and she led in some very moving and powerful moments on "Soon" and "Revelation Song." "Come Lord Jesus" has become more familiar to the church, and we were able to sing stronger together and make that our declaration to close this series. That song has also been a great opportunity for our team to stretch in playing in an odd time signature (5/4), and they have all stepped up well.

Overall, this weekend was a great celebration of the hope that we have because of Jesus. He has bought us with His precious blood, and He has secured our future together with Him!

Hope you had a great weekend, wherever you were worshiping.

Songs We Sing, 03/29 - 03/30/14 - Fellowship Bible Church

This weekend, our student pastor, Nick Strobel, continued our series on worship with his message about godly wisdom. He went through the Proverbs and explained how living with godly wisdom is the only appropriate response of worship to who God is and what He has done for us. He told us that godly wisdom calls us to reality, humility, obedience, and ultimately, the cross of Jesus. We cannot truly walk in wisdom without the redemption that Jesus accomplished for us through the cross. It was a powerful and challenging message. He even took time out to mock my fandom of the Cleveland Browns. I was in tears from laughing, because it was so true... You can listen to or watch the message and service here.

Here's the order from this weekend:

Pre-Service - "Remedy" (G) [David Crowder]
Call to Worship
"Sing to the King" (E) [Charles Silvester Horne, Billy Foote]
"Name Above All Names" (A) [original]
Greeting Time/Announcements
Message - "Worship: Godly Wisdom" [Nick Strobel]
"How Deep The Father's Love For Us" (D) [Stuart Townend]
"Revelation Song" (D) [Jennie Lee Riddle]
"Son of God" (G) [Tim Neufeld, Jon Neufeld, Ed Cash, Gordon Cochran]

This was a special weekend of worship! Our entire team did an incredible job. Kelsey Thomsen co-led with me, and she continues to grow in her leading. Also, all of our singers and musicians really stepped up and led well throughout the weekend. It was a a powerful worship time.

For the songs this weekend, we focused on Jesus' sovereignty, and His worthiness of our worship because of His atoning sacrifice for us at the cross. Every song focused on these aspects in some way, and it tied in really well with where Nick went with his message. I think the highlight of the weekend for everyone was "Revelation Song." Kelsey led powerfully, and the church responded powerfully as we lifted Jesus up together. He is so worthy of all we are and of all our praise!

Hope you had a great weekend of worship wherever you were!

Set List, 01/21 - 01/22/12 Fellowship Bible Church

This weekend, we returned to finish our heaven series, "Heaven Revealed."  Joe shared about the purpose of heaven and how we can be prepared for heaven. I really loved spending the time this weekend trying to get our hearts and minds around a clearer vision of heaven. You can listen to the entire message here. Here's our service plan from this weekend:

Time of Preparation/Prayer "Jesus You" (E) [Bill Horn] Call To Worship "Sing To The King" (E) [Billy Foote, Charles Silvester Horne] Welcome/Greeting Time "Happy Day" (B) [Ben Cantelon, Tim Hughes] "Glorious Day" (B) [Michael Bleecker, J. Wilbur Chapman] "Jesus Paid It All" (B) [Elvina M. Hall, John Thomas Grape, Alex Nifong] Message - "Heaven Revealed, Pt. 2" [Joe Hishmeh] "Revelation Song" (C) [Jennie Lee Riddle] Offering/Announcements Dismissal

"Jesus You" - We sang this song as our preparation song this weekend. This is an original song that came from a study of the book of Romans, especially chapters three through five. We sang it for the preparation time this week because the song ends by pointing to eternity: "Now Death, where is your sting?/ You send me home, where forever I will sing/ You, Jesus, You." We have no need to fear death if we are in Christ. Death only sends us to our true home - the presence of Jesus.

"Sing To The King" - This was our opener this week. This song was used because it points to Christ's ultimate victory, which gives us the promise of a future together with Him in heaven. The focus of this song certainly gives reason for celebration!

"Happy Day" - We sang this song primarily because of the second verse: "When I stand in that place/ Free at last, meeting face to face/ I am Yours, Jesus, You are mine/ Endless joy and perfect peace/ Earthly pain finally will cease/ Celebrate, Jesus is alive/ He's alive!" Once again, it is because of the salvation we have in Christ that we can look forward in anticipation of the day when we see Jesus face to face. All tears and sorrow will be gone, and we will experience a joy that defies description!

"Glorious Day" - This song is still fairly new to our congregation, being that we only started singing it a few weeks ago. You can read more of my thoughts on the song here. This week, we decided to bring it down another half-step to B to see if it would be even easier for our congregation to sing.

"Jesus Paid It All" - This song is a staple for our church, and we sang it because it celebrates the one who resurrected us from spiritual death - Jesus Christ. He is the reason we have life. He is the one who has saved us. We did not (and could not) save ourselves. We owe all thanks, praise, and honor to Him. He is the one who paid our debt and raised these lives up from the dead!

"Revelation Song" - This was our response song this weekend. It was one that I had planned on doing for this series when we first started talking about it, and when we sang it for the "Heaven Is For Real" event this past Sunday night, it became a natural tie to this weekend as we concluded our formal discussion on heaven in our services this weekend.

This weekend was really powerful, and we experienced the presence of Christ as we worshiped in our services. Our team did a great job, and our congregation sang like crazy, which was exciting to witness. I am overwhelmed by the goodness of Christ in His promise of heaven for us. I can't wait to see Him face to face.

I hope you had a great weekend of worship wherever you were!

Set List, Sunday 09/19/10 Church at the Mall

Here's our set from this weekend: "You Are" [Todd Fields] "Kingdom" [Kristian Stanfill] OFF - "Jesus Messiah" [Jesse Reeves, Chris Tomlin, Daniel Carson, et al] Message - Find Your Passion [Dr. Jay Dennis] INV - "I Want to Love You" [Todd Fields] Lord's Supper "Lamb of God" [original] "Because of Your Love" [Phil Wickham] Closing - "Revelation Song" [Jennie Lee Riddle]

This morning was another great morning. We celebrated 16 baptisms, as well as the Lord's Supper. Everything about this morning pointed to Jesus and what He accomplished for us in His death and resurrection. That is what it is all about. Praise God for such opportunities to remind ourselves, as the body of Christ, aboutt the gospel message. There is salvation in no other name - He is our only hope.

I hope you had a great day of worship wherever you were this week.

Set List, Sunday 08/22/10 Church at the Mall

Currently watching: Toy Story This morning was a great day of worship with Church at the Mall. Here's our set for today:

"Faithful One" [original] "Holy is the Lord" [Chris Tomlin] "Beautiful" [Phil Wickham] "Revelation Song" [Jennie Lee Riddle] "Lord of All" [Kristian Stanfill] Message: "Catching a Glimpse of the Glory of God" [Dr. Jay Dennis] Invitation: "Never Be the Same" [original] "Glorious" [Paul Baloche, Brenton Brown]

This morning everything came together in a beautiful way. I was thrilled that Pastor Jay was going to be spending this week focusing on the glory of God, because there is so much you can do to emphasize that through the worship music. It isn't difficult to find worship songs that deal with the glory of God.

Pastor Jay had requested that we learn Paul Baloche's "Glorious," because it would fit well with this message. This was a song I have wanted to introduce for almost a year now, since Paul played it for the state convention's Worship Expo which was held at our facilities last year. It's a captivating song, with a solid lyric and some unique melody ideas. There are points where the melody is almost haunting. I love it.

We also brought back our arrangement of Phil Wickham's "Beautiful," which powerfully incorporates the theme of God's glory through creation, the cross, and eternity. I've said this before, but the lyric of the fourth verse always moves me when the church sings it together: "When we arrive at eternity's shore/ Where death is just a memory and tears are no more/ We'll enter in as the wedding bells ring/ Your bride will come together and we'll sing, You're beautiful."

It all came together well, and I believe God was truly exalted by the church this morning. As we lifted up His praise, we encountered Him in a beautiful and powerful way. God is so worthy.

I hope you had a great day of worship wherever you were this weekend!
