This weekend, Pastor Joe shared from Colossians 3:1-17 about the authentic Christian life, which will reflect the character and name of Jesus. For our singing we sang songs that both declared the character of God and that also recognized that strength and transformation comes from the work of God on our behalf and his working in and through us:
"Everlasting God" (Bb) [Brenton Brown, Ken Riley]
"You Brought Me Back To Life" (Bb) [Zach Bolen, Brian Eichelberger]
"Man of Sorrows" (D) [Matt Crocker, Brooke Ligertwood]
"You Have Overcome" (A) [Bill Horn, Erik Oldberg]
"This Is Amazing Grace" (A) [Josh Farro, Jeremy Riddle, Phil Wickham]
Our team did a great job this weekend. It was as a solid weekend all around. I really love each of the songs we sang this weekend for different reasons. I have enjoyed incorporating "Man of Sorrows" into our vocabulary, and I think it will have a place going forward. "You Brought Me Back to Life" is an energetic celebration of the message of Ephesians 2, and I think our church enjoys singing it together. "This is Amazing Grace" remains one of our staples as a congregation, and for good reason. It is a powerful declaration of God's sovereignty, love, grace, and sacrifice for us, and it calls us to respond to who He is and what He has done for us. It's still one of my favorites.
